Mares

Breeding is done by an experienced team of professionals and is evident in the results we strive for and achieve. Your mare is our most important consideration.

Each mare is managed & inseminated at their most optimal time by frozen semen to any Ontario sire.

Our foaling stalls are equiped with cameras and during foaling season each mare is checked several times each night.

Each mare is provided with a feeding plan that strives to improve and maintain a good condition for breeding, pregnancy and foaling.

 

Our charges start at $8.00 per day (barren/maiden mares) with all worming, farrier and transport charged at cost.

Veterinarian

We are fortunate to have a great standardbred breeding vet, Dr. Mary Baks who is experienced with standardbreds and less than 10 minutes away in case she is needed during foaling.

Pasture 

Large lush alfalfa and grass pastures await all who board at A Place For Standardbreds.

Isolation Barn 

Used for horses coming in from other farms or training centres and for sick horses in order to protect those already in residence.

Feed

We have the advantage of making our own hay, which we analyse yearly and then  compliment it with  a personalized feed program designed and monitored by a Brooks Performance Feed specialist.
